Work on County State Aid Highways 3 and 5 south of Byron is moving ahead

Work on County State Aid Highways 3 and 5 south of Byron is moving ahead. Traffic is currently being detoured away from CSAH 3 while an existing box culvert over Cascade Creek - about one mile north of Salem Road (County State Aid Highway 25) - is being replaced.
This work must be done before the CSAH 5 reconstruction begins in earnest because CSAH 3 will serve as the long-term detour for CSAH 5 traffic.
The CSAH 5 construction schedule has been provided to the city. Bids were opened on May 7 and will be awarded on approximately May 21. The grading, select, and aggregate work will be done during this summer and fall. CSAH 5 is scheduled to be open to traffic on Nov. 15. Paving is scheduled to be completed by April 14, 2025, and the entire reconstruction of CSAH 5 is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 15, 2025.
