Aug. 13 is a primary election day for Minnesota voters.

The Minnesota Secretary of State’s website explains, “A primary election determines which candidates will be on the ballot in the November general election.”

For this primary election, there are several candidates from both major political parties for the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives, Minnesota District 1. Only one candidate from each of the two major political parties can be on the ballot in November.

“The winner of the August [13th] primary election will represent their party on the November election ballot.”

To vote, voters must request the ballot for the party of their choice.

Byron voters may vote at Byron City Hall, 680 Byron Main Ct. NE, Byron, MN 55920.

Voting hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
