Independent School District #531 provides public education to the City of Byron and surrounding rural areas.

A seven member school board administers the public school system. Board members are elected annually for three-year overlaping terms and are empowered by statute to make policy, adopt budgets, levy taxes and control debt. The school board holds monthly meetings  and are usually held in the high school   multi-purpose room. Meeting notices and board minutes are published in the Byron Review.

Byron PTO (Byron Parent Teacher Organization), was established to unite home, school and community on behalf of the Byron youth. Meetings are announced on the school website.
